I Have a Dream...

Nolan turned 4 months this past Friday. I am getting him ready for college!! :) At his check up he weighed in at 16 lbs. 4 oz. (75%) and measured at 26 3/4 inches (95%). Is it me, or does it look like he is so over having his picture taken??

New Tricks

Every once in awhile my mom asks me what Nolan's newest tricks are. I feel like he has hit a few milestones this week. Here they are. (FYI, before I had my own child I would ready other blogs that would mention similar "milestones" and I would think, "big deal, so your kid can roll over". Sorry about that, now I understand that it IS a big deal!! :))

He can read!! :)

He likes his Bumbo. Unfortunately he hates almost everything the first few times he tries it. It took a few tries for him to not scream when I put him in this.

Strong buddy!! I sense crawling right around the corner!

Sleeping without the swaddle! This is one of my all time favorite sights!!

He just loves to stand! It is amazing how little support he really needs from us. Notice the lovely drool spots? Drool is just a way of life around here!

The Best Dad (and husband) EVER!!

This morning for Father's Day, Nolan thought that he would celebrate early and woke up at 5:30. I refuse to begin our day any time before 6 am so he fussed off and on until 6:30. During that hour Jerel was the one who tended to the little bundle of joy. He then made me breakfast and around 7:15 I finally realized that it was Father's Day and I should have been the one making breakfast. Oops!  Nolan is fast asleep at this point so I go to take a shower. Mean time he wakes up but is poopy...and unfortunately in this house "finders, keepers". Jerel was the finder, changed him and feeds him. We head off to church and Nolan had his first nursery experience. Everyone survived but he only slept 10 minutes of his usual 90 minute nap (this never bodes well later in the day). Came home and Jerel fed Nolan again because I was getting ready for his parents to come over for lunch. Jerel put little man to bed and then had grill duty. The hamburgers were perfection! After his parents left, he sent me to go visit some friends who just had a baby and he manned one grumpy baby by himself! I got home just in time for his bath and not a minute too soon. I think they had worn each other out! I bet this wasn't the Father's Day that Jerel had always dreamed of but he took each moment in stride and served Nolan, myself, and his parents faithfully with joy. Nolan is so blessed to have this man as his daddy! I am beyond blessed to have him as my husband! Happy Father's Day babe. I love you!

Ashlei's Baby Shower

The Sarah's

My version of simple elegance. We had cup cakes, mini key lime cheesecake (so yummy!!), chocolate covered strawberries, cheeseball and crackers. The center is a sweet diaper cake that Suzie made.

When I was on staff with Campus Crusade at Alabama my first discipleship group had four girls in it. Two were Ashlei (left) and Dana (right). My 11 years on staff I was privileged to disciple a lot of women but only a few would I call my friends. These two are friends for life. Two years ago we all got married within 6 weeks of each other and now we are having baby boys within 6 months of each other. Ashlei is due in 2 weeks with Grady, and Dana is due in 7 weeks with Wells. It will be so fun to watch our boys grow up together!

This is so crazy and fun. After the shower all the hostesses had the husbands bring the babies over. As I look at this I see women who first and foremost love the Lord and want nothing more than for their children to love the Lord. In the past 7 years they have experienced marriage, moves, buying their first homes, losing parents, miscarriages, and adoption. Through it all we have experienced the faithfulness of God.

Got to go. So You Think You Can Dance- the best show EVER- is on!!

Self-portrait Saturday

This past saturday morning Nolan, Rocky, and I decided to let Jerel sleep in a little. as a result, we decided to take some self-portraits.
Admittedly, not the best picture of Nolan. However, I don't look too bad, especially since I hadn't even brushed my hair!

My poor neglected Rocky!! Up until February 20th he had no idea he was even a dog!

Still love these feet!

Question of the week...

I am polling my many fans (just kidding, but the counter continues to climb so someone is reading this stuff) to find out what is your favorite wine UNDER $10. Jerel and I enjoy a glass here and there when I am not pregnant and since I couldn't nurse we're trying to live it up! Unfortunately, we often are unable to finish off a bottle so we try to stay under $10. We already know about Two Buck Chuck (seriously not bad especially for $2.50) and also really like Menage a Trois. So let us know. There is just nothing worse than a nasty bottle of wine!! Oh, we like reds and really love a good pinot.
