I feel like I have been absent from blog world lately. Most of my free time has been devoted to house stuff and Christmas stuff. So, here are a few pictures of what Nolan has been up to-if I can get it done before nap time is over!!

Teething. 3 new teeth have been giving him and me fits. This is what everyday looked like for two straight weeks. My head just hurt from all the whining.

Santa Baby

Don't have time to write much, but we hung out with Santa today. Nolan was very stoic. Honestly, I was hoping for the classic "Baby wailing in Santa's lap" picture, but we couldn't get him to cry either!! :) Maybe next year.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

We were finally able to get our Christmas tree this past Friday. We usually get it the weekend after Thanksgiving, but it was raining and so cold this year! I had been itching to get it up since there are fewer weeks between the two holidays this year. The past two years we have gone out the the same tree farm to cut down the "perfect" tree. It was so fun to take Nolan this year. Thankfully he could really care less about the tree in our house and has, for the most part, left it alone. Yea!!!

My parents are coming on the 24th so we needed 5 stockings. I always think that my mantle looks so lame- I need some greenery. Maybe next year. 

My New Favorite Thing

Before we had Nolan I found a really cute wooden highchair on Craigslist. I was so proud. I have since come to learn that cute does not always equal practical! He would slide around in the chair, bang his head on the back of it which would often lead to crying (meal time can be stressful enough!!), and it was difficult to clean. Then I found this magical chair. The best feature is that it folds down completely and I can put it away at the end of the day. Our house is little and any space saving we can do is a total bonus. Nolan also love it and will sit in there and eat toast or other snacks while I get things done in the kitchen. Score!!

Nine Months!!

Today Nolan is nine months old. I think it's fun that he's been out of my belly for as long as he was in there (more or less). He had his check up and is weighing in at 22 lbs. (70%) and length is 30 inches (93%). He is now "crawling", able to feed himself, has three teeth- with at least three on the way, and is just an all around joy. We are so thankful to have him in our lives!

Renovations

I have been fairly absent from blog world because we have been doing renovations in our house. It all started very simple and innocent. We were taking the wallpaper off the walls and ceiling (yes, we had wallpaper on the ceiling- it was horrible!!) in our kitchen and putting on a fresh coat of paint. The finale was to be new countertops. Well...it evolved into having all the ceilings on the main floor resurfaced, cracked plaster walls repaired, the walls in the kitchen skim coated, new floors, countertops, sink, faucet, and oven. My house has been a total disaster and I have hated having my crawling baby on the floor. Most of the workers should be out of here by the end of this week and then we will be painting, painting, painting! Anyone want to come over?? :) I will post pictures when it is all done. In the mean time here are a few of the little man.

With a BAA and a MOO and a COCKADOODLEDOO...

Since this kid can't get enough of the "Barnyard Dance" he just had to be a chicken for halloween. Actually, I found this at a consignment sale months ago and have been so excited to use it. It was a fairly uneventful day. We put to costume on in the morning for pictures and visited with our neighbors. Went to a friends for lunch and to Gigi's and Papa's for dinner. He is by far the cutest chicken I have ever seen!

The Dangers...

Apparently one of the dangers of having a dog and a toddler is toy confusion! On Saturday as Nolan was perfecting his amy-crawl skills (he thinks he is crawling) he disappeared around the corner of the couch. When I found him he was happily chewing on Rocky's bone. It was cute (nasty but cute), so I had to snap a picture. On Sunday we were outside doing some yard work. I was sitting on the driveway with Nolan when Rocky came proudly trotting towards me. I could tell that something was in his mouth- but it wasn't until he got right up to me that I could see that it was Nolan's passi. Apparently it had fallen out of the car at some point and he wanted to make sure that we didn't lose it! Thank the Lord I had my camera outside with us!! These are the moments that are priceless!! :)

I promise that this is how I found Rocky. No re-enactment's were needed!

Sky Top

Today we went to Sky Top Orchard in the mountains of North Carolina. It's such a fun family- oriented place with hay rides, carmel apples, and a plethora of photo opportunities. The weather was perfect. Rocky was the star of the show- all the little kids wanted to pet him, and he LOVED it!! Nolan was a trooper and flirted with anyone who would make eye contact with him. I am excited to make this a annual trip- Jerel is excited about the apple cobbler.

Spontaneous Road-trip

Tuesday morning as I was heading to bible study my friend Sandi called to ask what my plans were for the day. There were no plans- so she decided that she was going to pack up her two kids and drive up from Atlanta to spend a few hours with us. It was such a fun surprise. We have both had babies since the last time we had seen each other and there was a lot to catch up on. For 30 blissful minutes all three kids were asleep at the same time and we were able to have uninterrupted grown-up conversation! I love having people (primarily Sandi) in my life who are spontaneous/crazy enough to make a spur of the minute decision to take her little ones on a road trip! Thanks so much for coming, we loved having you!!

There was some great flirting going on but I was unable to catch it!

Problem Solved

Our sock issue has been solved.  Yesterday I headed over to Target and bought the knock off Robeez for half the price. When I have looked before they never carried any that I liked. Thankfully there was one pair of cute brown giraffe's in his size. Now if I could just solve the the teething issue/overly stuffy and runny nose!! Good times.

Oh, and he is 8 months today. Happy birthday to him!!

The Death of Me

Some of you know that I have sock issues. My biggest pet peeve in the world is when someone walks around in their socks and they start to flop off the end of their foot. I have seen people with a baby on their hip with socks dangling off and I think "Ugh, HOW can they handle it??". Well, I am there everyday. There is always at least one sock about to fall off of Nolan's foot. Poor kid, I am pulling at them all day. Has anyone out there found socks that don't slip off?? I need help!! :)

Lil' Punkin

Fall is here and I am ready!! I love fall. I love the colors, the smells, the clothes, and the festivities. This weekend we picked up our pumpkins from a church down the street. I consider myself decorated now! Now I can't wait to get up to the apple orchard! Those are going to be GREAT pictures!! :)

Long time- no post

I am not sure if there hasn't been anything going on, and that explains the absence of updates, or if I have just been too busy to post. I think I am going to go with too busy, makes me feel better! :)

Nolan is now 7 months and we just had his "6 month" pictures taken. Feel free to check them out here and then type in sarahw under clients. I couldn't decide if I like color or black and white so that is why there are so many duplicates. This week he finally cut his bottom two teeth and we got the "all clear" from his doctor after his ear infection. We have dropped his last night feeding, so technically he is sleeping through the night. Technically. Needless to say, we are all doing great. Without further ado, here are the pictures.

Sicky

It was bound to happen sooner or later. I was just hoping for later. For about a week Nolan had been acting a little off- not sleeping well, pulling at his ear, then he woke up on Tuesday night and was so stuffy he couldn't breath (needless to say, I sat up with him all night). I took him in on Wednesday and sure enough he has a ear infection. Apparently he has had the infection for awhile. Oops. So we are on an antibiotic, which I hate, but we needed to do it. The stuffy nose honestly is the worst part. He can't fall asleep without the passi, and he can't breath with the passi in his mouth. There has been a lot of crying! The good news is that I think he is about done with all of this. This is not making me look forward to winter!

I have been through a few aspirators this week to find one that will get the job done. There also was the bigger green one that the hospital gave us when we brought him home (which was my favorite) but Rocky ate it. If you have any questions about which ones work the best, feel free to ask!!

Weekend with the Warren's

This weekend Graham, Ashlei & Grady came to visit us. It was so great to see them and so crazy to have two babies in the house. They kept waking each other up. Good times! They left a few hours ago and Nolan is down for what I hope is a VERY long nap!! I hate that they live so far away but love that when we see them it seems as though no time has passed. Praise the Lord for blogs, they help keep the world a little smaller!
